Description
Hand-carved and hand-painted floating manta ray crafted from sustainable Ecuadorian balsa wood. Lightweight, smooth, and designed for water play, each piece celebrates ocean life and the skill of traditional artisan craftsmanship.
Manta rays are gentle, filter-feeding animals found in tropical and subtropical oceans, including the Pacific waters off Ecuador. Unlike many marine species, they do not hunt large prey; instead, they glide through the water filtering plankton and other tiny organisms as they swim.
These remarkable animals are known for their intelligence, large brain-to-body ratio, and unique behavior, including visiting cleaning stations where small fish remove parasites from their skin. Despite their calm nature, manta rays are increasingly threatened by overfishing, plastic pollution, and habitat disruption.
Each piece is individually hand-carved and hand-painted by artisan families, making every manta ray slightly unique. A floating toy designed to inspire play, curiosity, and a deeper connection to marine ecosystems.
