Description
Hand-carved and hand-painted floating whale shark crafted from sustainable Ecuadorian balsa wood. Lightweight, durable, and designed for water play, each piece brings together the wonder of ocean life and the value of traditional artisan craftsmanship.
Whale sharks are the largest fish in the world, found in warm tropical oceans including the Pacific waters near Ecuador. Despite their size, they are gentle filter feeders that eat mostly plankton and small organisms, swimming slowly near the surface or through nutrient-rich waters.
These remarkable animals are known for their distinctive spotted patterns, which are unique to each individual—like a natural fingerprint. Whale sharks are currently classified as endangered in many regions due to threats such as boat strikes, fishing bycatch, and declining plankton-rich habitats.
Each figure is individually hand-carved and hand-painted by artisan families, meaning no two whale sharks are exactly alike. A floating toy designed to inspire curiosity, calm play, and a deeper appreciation for ocean life.
