Description

Hand-carved and hand-painted floating sea turtle crafted from sustainable Ecuadorian balsa wood. Lightweight, durable, and designed for water play, each piece reflects the beauty of ocean life and the heritage of traditional artisan craftsmanship.

Sea turtles are found in tropical and subtropical oceans around the world, including the Pacific waters off Ecuador’s coast. They are ancient marine reptiles that have existed for over 100 million years and are known for their long migrations across entire ocean basins, often returning to the same beaches where they were born to nest.

These gentle animals play an important role in maintaining healthy marine ecosystems, helping balance seagrass beds and coral reef environments. However, all sea turtle species are currently threatened by risks such as plastic pollution, habitat loss, fishing bycatch, and climate change.

Each figure is individually hand-carved and hand-painted by artisan families, meaning every sea turtle has subtle variations that make it unique. A floating toy designed to inspire play, learning, and a deeper connection to ocean conservation.
